Following the Money

Recalling the statistic that the number of stockholders in America exceeds the number of employees (allowing for overlap), consider the great political achievement of Eliot Spitzer, attorney general of the state of New York: the discovery that aggrieved investors constitute an electoral constituency with more clout than, say, aggrieved workers – and thus that the former’s respect for him could make him not just the governor of my populous state but perhaps our first Jewish president.
