Leaky Vaccines and Crazy Transmissions

One of the problems with the COVID-19 vaccination campaign is that variants of SARS-COV-2 emerge (presumably from the unvaccinated) for which the vaccines are less effective. As the virus replicates in infected individuals, mutations occur, which can result in a new strain. While such variants may be more or less aggressive than the original strain, they are generally less virulent. The Delta variant is an example; infection has increased, while hospitalization and death rates remain low. But in their obsession with infection, our frantic public health authorities now insist that one or more booster shots are needed to compensate for the rapidly waning effectiveness of the two initial injections. Additional boosters will no doubt be required, as new variants emerge, most likely from nations with large populations of people who are unvaccinated.

But there is another, potentially much worse, problem with the “vaccinate everyone” campaign. This danger could arise from the vaccinated population. Modern-day vaccines can cause the creation of a virus strain more deadly than the virus that they were designed to eradicate. This process is described an article by Melinda Wenner Moyer, “Vaccines Are Pushing Pathogens to Evolve.” Unlike older, sterilizing vaccines (such as childhood vaccines which kill the virus, thereby preventing replication), the newer vaccines stimulate the immune system to attack only certain features on the surface of the virus. This is sufficient to prevent illness, but the virus survives, replicating inside your body. And the virus, including the mutations that occur during replication, can be transmitted to others. There are no sterilizing vaccines “for complicated pathogens like HIV, anthrax and malaria,” notes the author. “To conquer these diseases, some researchers have been developing immunizations that prevent disease without actually preventing infections — what are called ‘leaky’ vaccines. And these new vaccines may incite a different, and potentially scarier, kind of microbial evolution.”

Let’s say that you are vaccinated with an mRNA vaccine and become infected. The virus starts doing the same thing it does in the unvaccinated case. But now most of the mutations are killed off by the vaccine-induced antibodies. All of the surviving mutations are stronger than the vaccine. Thus, successive mutations are selected only from strains that are already immune to the vaccine. It is this process that can lead to a more harmful variant.

The mRNA vaccines developed to combat SARS-COV-2 are leaky. And any mutation that survives the antibody attack is, by definition, immune to the vaccine. Anyone exposed to the new, possibly more virulent strain, including those vaccinated against the old strain, can be infected, and be infectious. The results of an experiment assessing the effects of leaky vaccines on chicken populations appeared in a 2015 PLOS Biology paper. It was entitled “Imperfect Vaccination Can Enhance the Transmission of Highly Virulent Pathogens.” Yikes!

During a recent edition of the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, Mr. Rogan broached the subject, citing the experiment’s main conclusion: “[A]nti-disease vaccines that do not prevent transmission can create conditions that promote the emergence of pathogen strains that cause more severe disease in unvaccinated hosts.”

With increasing numbers of the vaccinated becoming infected, in the midst of a nationwide crusade to vaccinate everyone, the possibility of deadly escape mutants is a legitimate worry. But Rogan also worried about the legitimacy of the crusade itself, asserting that mandatory vaccination will bring us “one step closer to dictatorship.” Ayn Rand wrote that, from America’s founding, “defiance, not obedience, is the American’s answer to overbearing authority.” This is what has distinguished America from all other nations. Through incessant fearmongering, the Biden administration, aided by the corporate newsmedia, is using COVID-19 to change that answer to obedience.

The authoritarian Biden administration, therefore, can be expected to ignore the threat posed by the leaky COVID vaccines. And it will dismiss, as blasphemous disinformation, Mr. Rogan’s contention that “the very sort of environment that we’re creating by having so many people vaccinated with a vaccine that doesn’t kill off the virus, it actually can lead to a more potent virus. Try finding that story anywhere.” That story — that the vaccinated could be a greater threat to public health than the unvaccinated — would harm the administration’s push to vaccinate everyone.

The professor worries more about strains that could come from countries where the vaccination rates are low.

To defend the crusade, and its “pandemic of the unvaccinated” story, there was an immediate media backlash. Forbes, for example, recruited Andrew Read, the lead scientist in the 2015 chicken experiment, to tell us that “Joe Rogan Is Getting This Completely Wrong.” According to Professor Read, although deadly strains can emerge from the vaccinated, “evolution, at the moment, is all happening in the unvaccinated.” He may have a point. Every replication is an opportunity for a mutation, even in the unvaccinated. And the virus mutation rate could be as much as 100,000 times greater than the rate for human cells. Thus, he worries more about strains that could come from countries where the vaccination rates are low. Says Read, “Delta came in India where there was crazy amounts of transmission, not amongst the vaccinated, but amongst the unvaccinated.”

Meanwhile, border authorities have encountered more than one million migrants since President Biden took office. That number is expected to exceed two million by the end of the year. This doesn’t count all of those who manage to cross the border undetected. The vast majority of these are unvaccinated. They are entering into communities throughout the country.

The refugees are not coming from Mexico and Central America alone. They are coming from around the world — for the most part, the Third World. According to Iowa governor Kim Reynolds (R), “we’ve got 88 countries that are coming across the border, and they don’t have vaccines, so none of them are vaccinated, and they’re getting dispersed throughout the country.” In June, journalist Lara Logan reported that, nationwide, they are coming from 120 countries. They are coming, no doubt to the professor’s dismay, from countries with “crazy” amounts of transmission.

There is no science behind the COVID-19 pandemic response of the Biden administration. There is no thought of where its feckless, politically motivated remedies will lead. In “The Bitter Truth: There’s Still No Rhyme or Reason to COVID-19,” Charles Cook notes:

Israel, which has done everything that the loudest critics on the Left wanted America to do, is nevertheless stuck in the throes of a devastating surge. Israel has instituted repeated and draconian lockdowns (enforced by drone, no less); it has used nationwide mask mandates; it has vaccinated everyone early — and even added booster shots into the mix; and it has even instituted a system of vaccine passports. And, right now? Well, it’s getting crushed.

In terms of the dreaded “infection rate,” Israel was the COVID capital of the world from mid-to-late August. As the US infection rate begins to increase similarly, Americans should brace themselves, not for COVID-19, but for the Biden administration response.

The Biden administration has no plan for eliminating variants from either source (leaky vaccines or Third World countries), only a plan for eliminating defiance to overbearing authority.
