It's hard to get a handle on a year as wild as 2018 proved to be. But we can try at least to sum up the last year of Liberty, through the voices and messages of our esteemed contributors:
- Stephen Cox visited Noah's Ark, marveled at the surrealism of the powerful, and continued documenting the downfall of the languages, from the abandonment of brevity to various bridges to nowhere;
- Jo Ann Skousen revisited a figure-skating scandal, revealed the racism inherent in the state, and assessed the importance of Black Panther,
- Gary Jason looked forward to the death of OPEC, bemoaned Trump's protectionism, and eyed one of the odder corners of the Nazi propaganda machine;
- Bruce Ramsey reported on a rare tax victory in Seattle, recalled the Great Panic of 1893, and charted the potential decline of libertarianism;
- Lori Heine put "identity" through the ringer, got frustrated with Republicans, and made the case for clowns;
- Wayland Hunter split the ruling class and pondered paper trails and spree killers as well as the cruelty of the opioid crisis;
- S.H. Chambers listened to the new generation, passed on the check, and detached from reality;
- Robert Miller hopped on his bicycle alongside some Bay of Pigs veterans, and some British eccentrics;
- Andrew Ferguson inveighed against Brett Kavanaugh and George H.W. Bush;
- Jayant Bhandari traced the cracks in Indian modernity and rethought democracy;
- Russell Hasan weighed libertarian answers for funding healthcare and examined all sides of the "wasted vote";
- Jacques Delacroix taught us to catch and cook mackerel;
- Steve Murphy considered the plight of the monarch butterfly;
- Marc Beauchamp shared thoughts on his paper route;
- Jon Harrison unpacked Trump's unintentional Iranian policy;
- The much-missed Leland B. Yeager provided timely thoughts on Bitcoin; and finally,
- Mark Skousen commemorated the life of one of Liberty's nearest and dearest.
Thanks to all you readers for another tremendous year. Now we ask you: What all did we miss? What would you like to see more of? You can bet we'll continue doing our best to bring you items and commentary of interest across the entire range of libertarian thought. See you in 2019!
