Sometime around the end of the 19th or the beginning of the 20th century, nations began to have identity crises, like the individuals who compose them. And in the spirit of democracy, whole countries went mad the way a few kings once did. The United States is no doubt lucky that only our King George and his chief counselors, not the whole country, are at the moment delusional.
